It's 2021....!!!

It's being ages that I have posted something on my blog. This COVID 19 turned our lives upside down in a flash. For the past few months (in 2020) I was bit busy with some "work from home" stuff, to be precise writing articles, making designs, managing social media accounts for few new & existing businesses. It's better to keep yourself busy rather than idling at home during this pandemic time (well earning some amount by working from home is not bad, you don't have to waste your time & money by travelling, can work freely at home on your own time; for me its late late night). I'm mostly spending my time by doing gardening and cleaning the house during day time; sometimes baking & cooking some weird dishes which I see online. And during night time with quite atmosphere it helps me to focus better to complete my work. Oh yes, I forgot to tell that, yes I'm still in Sri Lanka at my parents' home. Things are really bad here, specially in Western province where I'm residence at. I really hope I can travel back to Maldives to my husband at least this year, 2021.

Since I've being living and working in Maldives for the past 06 years, this is the first time after six years I've got the chance to spend Christmas and New Year with my parents. When I was in Maldives, during Christmas time I always yearned to go to Lanka, because I miss all the decors, year end shopping, parties and all the tasty yum yums, and you can feel the Christmas spirit in the cold breeze where I always hum 'Jingle Bell Jingle Bell Jingle Bell Rock....' All the roads are decorated with various lights and other decors, and you get to decorate your office, we've used to collect all the Christmas cards we receive from our clients and hang around the office and count who received the most cards. Those are the fun days. But after moving to Male', you will not feel the Christmas spirit cause there are no decorations, no celebrations. In resorts you can enjoy all the decorations & celebrations but not in Male' city. As I have mentioned in my previous post Maldives is a Muslim country, so you are not suppose to celebrate other religious activities within the main city. But the funny part is, my previous company's CEO share some of his gift hampers with us during Christmas and secretly telling us we should have a Christmas tree in the office. I find it funny because being a Maldivian he sometimes forget his own country's law, where we have to remind him that jokingly "you might get arrested if you do that".

Even though I've got to celebrate Christmas in Lanka, I could not actually enjoy it due to Corona. Not only me, all the Sri Lankans failed to celebrate it properly. The death toll in Lanka is rising day by day and it is heart breaking to celebrate anything at this point. So Christmas and New Year in Lanka are just another day. Few actually fired fire-crackers, but you can feel the dead silence in the air.

Finally we are hearing good news about vaccination for the virus, though there are new virus versions are coming up, we all wish 2021 will give us a new hope where we can go back to normal at least to some extent. I saw one quote saying that "this year we realized that all the nonsense make sense", its funny because it is actually true. My friend shared this clip and I hope you can enjoy it too.
Let's all hope for a mask free 2021....... till then stay safe......!!
